Air France - KLM look to eliminate middlemen with blockchain

Air France - KLM signed a partnership with Winding Tree, " a specialist in blockchain-based travel bookings," in order to remove intermediaries from their business processes. The end result they propose is lowered costs for consumers and suppliers -- as well as the airline itself, presumably. Lufthansa had previously signed a similar partnership with Winding Tree in October 2017.

The announcement by Air France - KLM comes as enterprises with large, expensive and complex supply chains look to blockchain ledgers for cost savings and efficiency through speed and transparency. These permissioned blockchain initiatives tend to differ from public blockchains, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, which provide truly distributed ledgers that are not controlled by any one party or set of parties.
