Android adware found in apps available on Google Play store

More than 200 apps on the Google Play store have been infected with hidden adware, TechCrunch reports. The infected apps, mostly simulator games, have been downloaded over 150 million times. According to the researchers at security company Check Point, The SimBan malware masks as an ad-serving platform. Following the download of an infected app, the malware would be installed on a mobile phone and load whenever the phone was turned on. While it was used to generate ad revenue, the malware could also pose a bigger security threat.

Google has removed the apps from Google Play store.
