CoinMarketCap introduces 'grading system' for crypto

Popular crypto price-site CoinMarketCap has teamed up with analytics firm Flipside Crypto to provide grades alongside its listed crypto assets, CoinDesk reports.

The startup's Fundamental Crypto Asset Score (FCAS) offers a five-letter grading scheme. It ranks bitcoin and Tron under the same grade - A (Attractive); the second highest ranking after "S" (superb), which is held only by EOS and Ethereum. The metric distinguishes based on three factors including developer history and user activity (which could be boosted by volume manipulation or heavy marketing) but does not place specific weight on a blockchain's security protocol.

Flipside Crypto's CEO Dave Balter told CoinDesk he wants users (and newcomers) to "look at crypto projects as if they were sophisticated businesses,” and to help them look beyond price.
