TRON CTO leaves, denouncing 'centralized' token and former colleagues

Lucien Chen has left his role as CTO of TRON, the foundation behind the blockchain confirmed to The Block. The foundation did not expand on the reasons behind his sudden exit.

Chen's departure was first made public on Friday in a Medium post. He claims he resigned after two years masterminding the technology because of "irreconcilable contradictions" between himself and CEO Justin Sun, and because TRON's level of decentralisation and usability fell short.

"As a technical man, I feel very sad that the TRON has departed from the faith of ‘decentralize the web’...The real Internet applications cannot function in TRON network at all currently."

He added: "The spirit of the blockchain is decentralized, while TRON project is centralized."

Chen said he was now going to build a "new TRON" called project Volume Network. He has written a white paper for Volume, focusing on being "truly decentralised" with a new consensus mechanism. Sources in the region have confirmed his plans.
