Source: Tech veteran Tim Wagner set to exit Coinbase

Former Amazon Web Services executive Tim Wagner is departing cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, according to a source with knowledge of the exit.

Wagner, who joined Coinbase a little more than a year ago as its Vice President of Engineering, would be the latest departure at the San Francisco firm, which has also seen its chief technology officer Balaji Srinivasan and chief operating officer Asiff Hirji part ways in recent months.

At the time of Wagner's arrival to Coinbase in August 2018, the firm said he would play a role in building out its infrastructure to expand its platform and add new assets. Coinbase has added a number of new cryptocurrencies to its exchange, including Maker, Augur's REP, and EOS

According to CoinDesk, which first reported on Wagner's exit, Coinbase is also set to lose two other engineers.

Coinbase did not immediately respond to an inquiry asking who would replace Wagner.

At Amazon, Wagner was a general manager for AWS Lambda as well as Amazon API Gateway. He also spent time at Microsoft.
