Seven major EU countries sign declaration to promote blockchain technology

Seven southern EU members have signed a declaration to promote "Distributive Ledger Technology" or blockchain technology. The group, known as the "Mediterranean seven" includes France, Italy, Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Portugal, and Spain. The Mediterranean seven believes blockchain technology can be a "game changer" in boosting the efficiency of their economies. Blockchain can “result not only in the enhancement of e-government services but also increased transparency and reduced administrative burdens, better customs collection and better access to public information,” says the declaration signed by the group.
