Razer wants gamers to mine cryptocurrency using their idle computers but not reward them with cryptocurrency

Gaming hardware manufacturer Razer is partnering with GammaNow, a crypto mining software solutions provider, to let gamers mine cryptocurrency with their idle computers. Instead of rewarding their gamers with cryptocurrency, however, Razer will reward them with Razer Silver, loyalty points that can be redeemed for discounts on Razer products. “The cryptocurrency that’s being mined through this program is not touching Razer’s hands nor the user’s hands,” Kevin Allen, a Razer spokesperson, told Vice. GammaNow will keep the mined cryptocurrencies and pay Razer a fee for convincing its customers to contribute computing power.
