Blockchain brings on its first CFO after year of 'unprecedented' growth

Crypto wallet technology firm Blockchain has brought on its first chief financial officer as the firm eyes an initial public offering in the coming years.

Macrina Kgil joined the firm in November, as first reported by The Information. The new hire was confirmed to The Block in an email from Blockchain co-founder and chief executive officer Peter Smith.

”This has been an unprecedented year of growth at Blockchain, and I’m thrilled to welcome Macrina as our first Chief Financial Officer,” said Smith. “Macrina is a proven leader who’s built strong financial organizations and prepared companies to go public. As we expand our retail and institutional footprint, Macrina will be instrumental in helping the company scale." Smith told The Information that Kgil will play a key role in the company's preparations to go public over the next few years.  Previously, Kgil was CFO of lending firm Springleaf Financial Services. She joined Blockchain from GPB Capital, an asset manager.
