Blockchain companies paid out nearly $900k to white hat hackers in 2018

According to data from bug bounty platform HackerOne, blockchain companies awarded ~$878k in bounties to white hat hackers in 2018, TheNextWeb reports. These companies received at least 3,000 vulnerability reports from hackers. The top three payouts are from:

  1. EOS creator Block.one, which handed out ~$534K
  2. Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, which handed out ~$290k
  3. Blockchain platform TRON, which handed out $76k

A HackerOne spokesperson told TheNextWeb that "nearly 4 percent of all bounties awarded on HackerOne in 2018 were from blockchain and cryptocurrency companies." The spokesperson added that “The average bounty for all blockchain companies in 2018 was $1490, that is higher than the Q4 platform average of around $900.”
