Critical bug found in Bitcoin software is patched

The bug was found in Bitcoin Core, the most popular client of the bitcoin network. According to Bitcoin Core developers, the bug enabled miners to send denial-of-service attacks to other nodes on the network by forgoing a block reward. Furthermore, Bitcoin Core developers also discovered that the bug contained an inflation vulnerability which could have potentially enabled miners to inflate the supply of bitcoin beyond its 21M limit. On Thursday a new version of the Bitcoin Core client was released to patch the bug. (Source: Bitcoin Core)
