Paradigm taps former DHS official to serve as general counsel to crypto VC firm

Crypto VC firm Paradigm has hired Gus Coldebella as its general counsel, according to a Friday blog post.

In the post, Coldebella wrote that "crypto has the potential to bring greater freedom, autonomy, and economic benefit to people around the world." Axios first covered the news.

Coldebella previously served as general counsel for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the Bush administration between 2007 and 2009, having worked as deputy general counsel for the two years before that period. He later worked as Circle's chief legal officer and executive vice president.

That period working for Circle was cited in Coldebella's blog post.

"Joining Paradigm offers the chance to continue the work I began at Circle and deploy my experience as a lawyer and former policymaker to assist the fund and its portfolio companies with these complex issues," he wrote.
