The 1inch Network, the leading decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator by daily on-chain volume, has implemented its protocol on the zkSync Era, a Layer 2 solution developed by Matter Labs.

This development positions 1inch among the first major decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols to go live on the zkSync Era following its mainnet launch last month.

The 1inch protocol allows traders to access liquidity from multiple DEXs to facilitate token swaps within a single platform. By joining the Era network, the protocol will enable users to discover optimal routes for their on-chain swaps.

The zkSync Era is a zero-knowledge (ZK) rollup that offers compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), ensuring seamless integration with the existing Ethereum ecosystem and tools. ZK-rollups process and finalize transaction computations off-chain before confirming the data on Ethereum, allowing for accelerated transaction processing and enhanced scalability.

"zkSync Era is a highly promising L2 solution, and we're thrilled to be among the initial projects deploying on this network. As zkSync Era gains traction, 1inch users will enjoy faster and more cost-effective transactions," 1inch Network co-founder Sergej Kunz said.

Interest in zkSunc Era

During its development phase, zkSync Era garnered interest from over 200 projects, including Chainlink, SushiSwap, Uniswap, Aave and Curve, which expressed their intention to deploy on the blockchain, the zkSync said in a statement.

After today's release, 1inch has join several other projects already available on the zkSynch Era network, including apps decentralized finance protocols like GemSwap, SpaceFi, SyncSwap, Mute, and Maverick.
