Casa rolls out cryptocurrency mobile app to attract bitcoin novices

Cryptocurrency custody startup Casa has rolled out a new mobile app.

Sats App is a noncustodial wallet that allows users to manage their lightning nodes straight from their mobile phone, CoinDesk writes. Casa is planning to add a rewards program to attract more cryptocurrency early adopters, who can earn cryptocurrency and learn about cryptocurrencies and node management.

“Features are focused on increasing adoption of bitcoin and lightning nodes,” said Casa CEO Jeremy Welch. “You will be able to earn bitcoin if you don’t have a Casa node, but you will be able to earn bitcoin faster if you have a node.”

The app will currently be available only to Casa customers, with a full roll-out planned for later this month. According to Welch, although the app is “lightweight,” it offers multiple actions — earning sats and operating a full node. “It’s private, secure and connects over Tor,” he added.

Earlier this year, Casa announced a “core shift” to its business, launching the Keymaster mobile app and plug-and-play Bitcoin Lightning node Casa Node.
