The WEF has been recognizing a limited number of tech pioneers every year since 2000 and incorporates them into its initiatives and events to bring insights into “world-critical” discussions.

Tech pioneers also become part of the WEF’s global innovators community and strategic intelligence ecosystem to help industry leaders with fresh perspectives.

Last year, blockchain solutions firm Bitfury was one of the blockchain startups on the WEF’s list. Ripple was also recognized by the forum in 2015.
