Bitget hires former Binance policy head Hon Ng as Chief Legal Officer

Cryptocurrency exchange and web3 company Bitget has appointed Hon Ng as its Chief Legal Officer.
Ng's responsibilities will include overseeing the company's adherence to global regulatory requirements, engaging with regulators, and assisting Bitget's market expansion by obtaining licenses, according to a press release. He has been at Bitget since early April.
Previously, Ng was General Counsel and Head of Government Affairs and Policy at Binance, where, according to the release, he oversaw the exchange's "cooperation and settlement with worldwide regulators," including those in the United States. According to Ng's LinkedIn page, he left Binance in August 2023.
Before Binance, Ng worked at Uber initially as a legal director and later as director of business development. According to the press release, he was extensively involved in a $2 billion merger of the company's Southeast Asian business with Grab.
"Hon Ng's extensive experience in digital and Web3-related legal and compliance affairs, as well as his outstanding track record of solving complex corporate-level issues and scaling businesses, have singled him out as the ideal candidate for the position of Chief Legal Officer at Bitget," the exchange's CEO, Gracy Chen, said.
