Quick Take
- The collection of 10,000 NFTs is based on the “Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E” show on Netflix.
- Holding an NFT for the multiplayer shooter game gives users access to rewards, content generation and influence over governance decisions.
NFT marketplace Magic Eden, video game development firm Ubisoft and blockchain development organization Arbitrum Foundation have collaborated to launch a web3 gaming NFT collection on Arbitrum.
The 10,000 NFT collection is based on the "Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E" anime show on Netflix. The move makes Arbitrum, the largest Ethereum Layer 2, Magic Eden's newest supported blockchain.
Holding an NFT for the multiplayer shooter gives users access to rewards, content generation and influence over governance decisions, according to a release shared with The Block.
"Through the integration of web3, we’re empowering our community to not only play but shape the future of the game," said Ubisoft Web3 Executive Producer Didier Genevois in a statement. "It’s about creating a collaborative ecosystem where players’ decisions and creations directly impact the game’s evolution, making the experience truly their own."
Non-Ethereum web3 gaming saw $494,000 in trading volume between Sept. 22 and Sept. 29, a far cry from the multi-million dollar weekly volume earlier in the year, according to The Block's Data Dashboard.
