Worldcoin partners with Dune to boost transparency ahead of World Chain mainnet launch

Quick Take

  • The Worldcoin project has partnered with Dune Analytics in an effort to boost transparency and accessibility to World Chain, the Layer-2 blockchain announced earlier this year.

Worldcoin said on Friday that it has partnered with Dune Analytics to boost transparency and data accessibility for its Layer-2 blockchain World Chain.

The Dune partnership is meant to provide added tools and information to World Chain users, Worldcoin said in a statement. "Dune will enable the Worldcoin community to have accessible on-chain data by providing detailed analytics or insights," the project said in a statement.

Additionally, the partnership is meant to provide developers and users with "the ability to explore key metrics such as the number of real humans interacting with the chain, performance of DeFi protocols or DEXs built on World Chain, and other relevant on-chain metrics" Worldcoin also stated.

Announced in April, World Chain is secured by Ethereum within the Superchain network of Layer 2 chains built using the OP Stack. Scalability was one of the key drivers behind Worldcoin's decision to migrate to its own chain, with the project estimating that World Chain will be able to process roughly double the amount of work OP Mainnet was capable of.

Set for migration

The World Chain mainnet going live will set up the migration of Worldcoin’s more than 10 million World App users from its existing base on OP Mainnet, according to the project. Originally, the mainnet was supposed to launch this summer.

Championed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's company Tools for Humanity, the Worldcoin project is focused on verifying people's "humanness" or "personhood" while "preserving their privacy" as the digital world becomes increasing populated by actors powered by artificial intelligence. Worldcoin has assigned nearly 7 million World IDs to users who proved they are human by scanning their eyeballs.

“With Dune’s powerful analytics tools, we can provide users and developers with accessible onchain data, empowering them to make informed decisions and drive innovation on World Chain,” Worldcoin Foundation's Head of Blockchain Remco Bloemen said in a statement.
