“Consumer Layer” Morph launches on mainnet, aiming to make dapps user-friendly
Quick Take
- Morph has rolled out its Layer 2 mainnet.
- The launch follows the project’s $20 million seed raise in March.
Morph, the Layer 2 solution billing itself as a “consumer layer,” has launched its mainnet on Ethereum.
The mainnet rollout builds on Morph's Holesky testnet, which introduced upgrades like EIP-4844 Optimistic zkVM integration for lower transaction costs and a streamlined bridge mechanism for withdrawals.
Morph co-founder and CEO Cecilia Hsueh described the mainnet launch as a “significant step” in Morph’s mission to make decentralized applications accessible for everyday users.
Morph claims that its testnet saw significant engagement, with over 100 million transactions, 6 million wallet addresses and over 200 projects deployed.
“This milestone propels our vision of a decentralized, scalable, and secure infrastructure, empowering developers and users alike with the tools they need to build and engage with the next generation of consumer-centric decentralized applications,” Hsueh said.
The project said that as part of its mission to broaden blockchain use, Morph offers a support system for developers that includes funding, incubation, and go-to-market assistance, targeting consumer-friendly applications.
“The inability of builders to navigate the resources needed to build, launch, and scale their companies is something we’re here to address. It’s time for there to be a chain by and for the builders. That is Morph,” said Morph Co-Founder and COO Azeem Khan, adding that Morph was designed to be a “one-stop shop” for developers and builders.
Morph integrates a hybrid solution of optimistic and zero-knowledge rollups to enhance security and performance. It also includes a “decentralized sequencer” — a component that organizes and batches multiple off-chain transactions before submitting them to the Ethereum blockchain. In March, the project raised $20 million in seed and angel funding rounds.
With its Layer 2 network, Morph is entering a crowded field of consumer-focused blockchains, including Xion, Abstract and others.
