Core wallet users on Avalanche to no longer pay gas fees for most C-Chain transactions
Quick Take
- Core has launched a gasless transaction feature for the Avalanche-native wallet.
- Avalanche C-Chain users will no longer need to pay gas fees for most transactions executed within Core.
Core has launched a new gasless feature, meaning users will no longer pay gas fees for most Avalanche C-Chain transactions executed within the Ava Labs-developed web3 native wallet and browser extension.
The move is designed to make it easier to transact onchain within the Avalanche ecosystem, including DeFi, gaming and NFT applications, without having to worry about the costs associated with executing transactions or running smart contract operations, which are now mostly covered by Core for users directly.
However, not all transactions are eligible for free gas, with some transactions still requiring some gas to be paid depending on the transaction type and amount, Core explained in a statement shared with The Block. Eligible transactions are notified on the transaction approval screen, enabling users to toggle the gas cost to zero.
Beyond removing the general friction of gas fees, Core aims to encourage existing and new users to actively explore more Avalanche-based tools, empower users with different experience levels to engage with the network more easily and help crypto novices avoid being put off by web3 technical jargon and complexity.
"This development allows us to take a big step toward our broader goal to bring Avalanche to everyone," Core Vice President Akash Gupta said. "Tackling blockchain's common challenges such as gas fees is precisely what will make the technology easier to adopt and more enjoyable to use across the board. We look forward to current Avalanche users and the broader community getting to experience gasless transactions through Core."
Avalanche is a fast, low latency scalable Layer 1 blockchain platform with three main chains: the X-Chain for asset transfers, the C-Chain for running Ethereum-compatible smart contracts and the P-Chain for managing validators and custom blockchains (subnets).
