Bitget Wallet is rolling out a social-login option that lets users create and recover a self-custodial crypto wallet using Google, Apple ID or email in an attempt to eliminate a massive bottleneck in web3 onboarding: the seed phrase.

Industry research cited by the company estimates that 1.5 million to 2 million bitcoin may be permanently lost due to forgotten keys or seed-phrase errors — a problem wallet providers have been trying to solve for a decade.

"As digital assets move closer to everyday financial use, the hurdles are increasingly behavioral rather than technical," said Jamie Elkaleh, CMO of Bitget Wallet. "Most people understand logging into an app, but not managing cryptographic keys. Social login with hardware-level protection bridges that gap."

Bitget Wallet's architecture uses AWS Nitro Enclaves to isolate key material end-to-end. Key operations are encrypted at rest and decrypted only inside the enclave after authentication. That design differs from multi-party computation wallets, which split key fragments across devices or servers. Bitget said local hardware isolation reduces latency and simplifies recovery while preserving non-custodial ownership.

The company said the new model relies on a hardware-based Trusted Execution Environment, or TEE, which generates and uses private keys inside a secure enclave on the device.

According to details shared by the team, the keys never leave the enclave and are not exposed to Bitget Wallet, the operating system, or external servers. Users can sign in on a new phone the same way they access everyday apps and regain access to their wallet without re-entering or storing a recovery phrase.

Bitget said its approach keeps the wallet self-custodial while removing the memorization burden that has historically tripped up newcomers.

The new login flow is available at launch across Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, Tron, Base, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Morph. Users can send and receive assets, swap tokens, stake, pay, and connect to DApps. Bitget plans to add email-based transfers, more extensive recovery options, and support for more networks.

Bitget Wallet says it now serves more than 80 million users globally and backs its services with a $700 million protection fund. Recently, the storage provider added support for Hyperliquid's ecosystem by integrating HyperEVM. It also allows wallet owners to pay for transactions using stablecoins.
