ErisX hires former Wells Fargo exec to lead business development

ErisX, a Chicago-based crypto exchange, has hired another member to its senior management team, the firm announced Tuesday.

Kyle Unterseher has held senior roles at Wells Fargo, Jefferies & Company, and UBS Investment bank. His role at ErisX will be Director of Business Development, where reports directly to Kelly Brown, ErisX’s Chief Commercial Officer.

“Eris Exchange has operated a regulated marketplace for over seven years before entering the cryptocurrency space,” said Unterseher. “With their experience, leadership and diverse list of investors; ErisX is well-positioned to enhance the digital asset trading experience and I’m excited to be a part of growing this new exchange environment.”

“We were impressed with Kyle’s wide range of global experiences working with FCMs as well as in managing and operating critical growth departments,” said Brown. “He is a significant addition to the team as we gear up to launch one platform for spot and regulated futures on digital assets.”

ErisX has been on a hiring spree since its launch. In February, The Block reported that it brought on three new executives to fill out its C-Suite. The firm is led by former Citigroup executive Thomas Chippas.

Then, Chippas said the Q2 deadline for the launch of its spot market was still on track, adding that the application to operate a futures exchange is still pending with the Commodities Futures Trading Commission.
