<p>Social media behemoth Facebook has hired yet another lobbying firm in an attempt to influence U.S. lawmakers over its proposed cryptocurrency, Libra.</p> <p>FS Vector, an advisory firm specialized in fintech, policy and regulatory compliance, will now support Facebook on “issues related to blockchain policy,” O'Dwyer's <a href="https://www.odwyerpr.com/story/public/12989/2019-08-26/facebook-posts-lobbying-retainer-amid-cryptocurrency-controversy.html">reported</a> Monday, citing lobbying registration documents <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/represent/lobbying/r/301022190">filed</a> by Facebook with Congress.<br /> <br /> John Collins, a partner at FS Vector, will lead the Facebook account, per the report. Collins has previously worked as head of policy for Coinbase and as the vice president of international policy at the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade, according to his<a href="https://www.fsvector.com/team-collins"> bio</a> on FS Vector’s website.</p> <p>Earlier this month, <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/category/facebook/">Facebook</a> also <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/tiny/facebooks-libra-crypto-project-faces-new-heat-from-global-privacy-regulators/">hired</a> Susan Zook of Mason Street Consulting, a former aide to Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), the chairman of the Senate Banking Committee.</p> <p>With the recent hires, there are now <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/tiny/politico-facebook-enlists-legion-of-lobbyists-to-sell-washington-on-libra/">at least seven lobbyists</a> for <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/tag/libra/">Libra</a>, with previous appointments of Sternhell Group, Cypress Group, Davis Polk, BakerHostetler and the OB-C Group. Facebook also recently <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/tiny/uk-standard-chartered-lobbyist-has-reportedly-joined-facebook-to-help-with-cryptocurrency-launch/">hired</a> UK Standard Chartered lobbyist Ed Bowles as its London-based director of public policy.</p>
