<p>Twitter is said to be considering a feature that will allow users to tip each other from their tweets.</p> <p>The Information <a href="https://www.theinformation.com/articles/the-people-with-power-at-twitter">reported</a> the news on Monday, citing “two people familiar with [Twitter’s] decisions.” A Twitter spokesperson, however, told The Information that the company is currently not developing a tipping feature.</p> <p>Some news outlets are <a href="https://www.livemint.com/technology/tech-news/twitter-planning-bitcoin-payments-as-tips-on-its-platform-sources-11578981161069.html">misreporting</a> that Twitter is considering a bitcoin tipping feature; The Information report does not mention so. It remains to be seen whether Twitter develops such a feature and if so, whether it will integrate bitcoin into it.</p> <p>Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is a well-known bitcoin supporter. Dorsey once <a href="https://www.coindesk.com/jack-dorsey-hopes-bitcoin-will-become-webs-native-currency">said</a>: “The Internet deserves a native currency...I hope it will be bitcoin. I’m a huge fan.”</p> <p>Dorsey’s other companies, Square and Square Crypto, have also been betting big on bitcoin. Square’s Cash App <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/linked/46151/square-cash-app-q3-bitcoin-sales-topped-a-record-159-million-up-over-150-since-last-year">facilitated</a> $148 million in bitcoin sales in Q3 of 2019 alone. Square Crypto, on the other hand, has been <a href="https://medium.com/@squarecrypto/designing-bitcoin-for-everyone-e6626c592c2">working</a> to make bitcoin “a daily-use currency with widespread adoption.”<br /> <br /> Square was recently also <a href="https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/51701/a-job-ad-hints-at-new-bitcoin-features-for-cash-app-including-auto-investing-and-p2p-gifting">hiring</a> a product manager to add new possible features to its Cash App, including "auto-investing" and peer-to-peer "BTC gifting."</p>
