Ethereum Name Service (ENS) DAO members are voting to release $2.2 million worth of tokens from the project’s coffers to fund the activities of its working groups for the first half of 2023.

The money will cover funding for three working groups — ENS ecosystem, public goods and meta-governance sub-groups. The ENS ecosystem and public goods requested funding in USDC and ether (ETH) tokens. The meta-governance sub-group also asked for funding in ens, the DAO’s native token.

Working Group USDC Ether ENS Token Total (USD)
ENS Ecosystem 935,000 254 - $1,325,398
Public Goods 250,000 50 - $317,000
Meta-governance 364,000 125 3,500 $581,925
Total $2,224,323

All three working groups stated that the funds will be used to support ENS projects and builders. The funds will come from the ENS DAO treasury, which currently holds $1 billion worth of crypto assets.

The DAO previously chose nine stewards to helm these working groups. The groups are smaller committees that handle specific functions for the DAO. They can make decisions on behalf of the community without having to involve the governance process of the main DAO.

Voting on the funding for the working groups began today at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Jan. 30.
