M^Zero, a decentralized infrastructure startup, announced several new hires on Monday including a former Circle executive who led development of the USDC stablecoin.

Circle's former Vice President of Stablecoins João Reginatto will be joining M^Zero as Chief Strategy Officer. Reginatto held the position for three of his eight years at Circle, using that time to build out USDC.

"I’m thrilled to join M^ZERO as the team continues to innovate in stablecoin protocol design and value intermediation in general," Reginatto said in a statement.

"M^ZERO is assembling a best-in-class team with incredibly deep expertise to address a massive market still in its infancy," he added. "Projects like M^ZERO show the potential for decentralized blockchain infrastructure, and I am excited to be a part of it."

Additional hires

M^Zero also onboarded former Coinbase Associate General Counsel Thor Mathison as the firm's General Counsel in June of this year, according to Mathison's LinkedIn profile. Andrew Khang is joining as Chief of Staff after roles with companies including General Electric and Hubspot.

Antonina Norair, formerly of Compound Labs and Moonpay, was hired to lead the web3 tech team, which has also been joined by Michael De Luca from Maple Finance and Caleb Ditchfield from Fei.

M^Zero raised $22.5 million in seed funding earlier this year in a round led by Pantera Capital that saw additional support from Road Capital, AirTree, Standard Crypto, The SALT Fund, ParaFi Capital, Distributed Capital, Kraynos Capital, Mouro Capital and Earlybird.
