Rakuten, dubbed the Japanese “Amazon,” may be planning to launch cryptocurrency integration soon, Ethereum World News reports. An earning report from February 12 states there is a major update coming next month—mobile app platform Rakuten Pay may potentially start supporting cryptocurrency payments, including “all payment solutions embedded into one platform.”

There has been no official announcement from Rakuten thus far. However, Ethereum World News claims Rakuten has made cryptocurrency exchange Everybody’s Bitcoin, acquired by Rakuten in August 2018, a new payments subsidiary. The restructuring has been confirmed in Rakuten’s last earnings report, suggesting the company is definitely looking into cryptocurrencies.
