The Base mainnet has suffered a "major outage," according to the blockchain’s status page. 

"We have identified the issue with a problematic block interfering with subsequent block building," Base posted at 16:52 UTC on Thursday. "The team is working on several threads to remediate and we will continue to post updates as soon as we have them."

According to the status page, Base’s block production became "unhealthy" around 16:03 UTC after a problematic block interrupted subsequent block building. New blocks are now not being produced reliably, though the chain may not be entirely paused.

Deposits and withdrawals have also been affected while transactions are delayed or stalled, according to the page. 

Notably, the incident occurred on the same day as Base’s scheduled Beryl upgrade, set for 18:00 UTC, though it appears separate from the planned maintenance.

Base, incubated by Coinbase, is the most active Ethereum scaling solution, according to The Block’s data.
