Blockchain infrastructure firm Consensys has unveiled its Consensys Fellowship program — a pre-accelerator initiative designed to support early-stage web3 founders and decentralized applications.

The 12-week program offers web3 startups mentorship, workshops and potential investment of up to $1.5 million from a fund in partnership with Tachyon and Consensys Mesh, according to a statement.

Applications for the fellowship open on Sept. 20, aiming to accept up to 15 startups in the extensibility, optimization and scalability verticals, Consensys said.

Industry support

The program has support from industry and venture capital partners, including SheFi, Aave Companies, Gitcoin, Polygon, Open Zeppelin and Ethereal Ventures.

“We’re excited to collaborate with builders that are heads down designing the future of the web3 ecosystem,” Consensys Accelerator Director Matt Wright said. “For the first cohort, we won't require any ownership stake (equity). We have the belief that by enabling these teams to develop new use-cases using our software suite, this external innovation has the potential to significantly benefit the Ethereum community in the long run.”

Once the successful applicants are selected, the fellowship will kick off on Nov. 6, culminating in an in-person demo on April 5 next year.
