Robinhood teases bitcoin futures trading in addition to oil and gold

Quick Take

  • Trading platform Robinhood teased futures trading for bitcoin, oil and gold, saying the new service is “coming soon.”

Popular trading platform Robinhood teased futures trading for bitcoin, oil and gold on Wednesday, with the note that the new service is "coming soon."

"Futures trading with our new intuitive trading ladder is coming soon to Robinhood," the company said in a post to X. Besides bitcoin, oil and gold, the new service will allow customers to trade S&P 500, USD and EUR futures, Robinhood said in post to its website.

The stock trading and investing platform has increasingly sought to offer additional crypto-related investment opportunities. Earlier this month, Robinhood began allowing its customers to trade the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin. Although the platform offers far fewer trading options than many of its competitors, following Donald Trump’s election victory in November, it listed popular tokens like SOL, ADA, XRP and PEPE.

The exchange had previously discontinued support for solana, cardano and XRP in 2023 after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission targeted firms like Coinbase in alleged relation to the sale of unregistered securities.
