PancakeSwap maintains lead as largest DEX by spot volume in July

Quick Take
- PancakeSwap led DEX spot trading in July, processing $188 billion in volume.
- Fee generation totaled over $430 million, driven by PancakeSwap’s AMM services and yield farming.
During July, PancakeSwap strengthened its position as the largest decentralized exchange by spot trading volume.
PancakeSwap recorded $151 billion in spot trading volume in June, accounting for over 43% of all spot DEX trades.
This dominance continued into July, with reports indicating PancakeSwap processed $188 billion in trading volume during the month — double Uniswap’s $94 billion — according to The Block’s data dashboard. The platform again accounted for nearly 43% of the total DEX volume.
Decentralized exchanges match buyers and sellers without the need for a centralized custodian.
The surge in PancakeSwap's volume has been attributed to its integration with Binance Alpha, the launch of PancakeSwap Infinity with lower gas fees, and cross-chain trading capabilities across networks like BNB Chain, Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Solana.
These factors helped PancakeSwap capture a significant market share, with the DEX-to-CEX spot trading ratio reaching a new high of 27.9% in June before sliding to 23.3% in July.
While Uniswap remained a notable competitor, its 30-day volume in July was notably lower than PancakeSwap's, and no other DEX — such as Raydium or Aerodrome — matched PancakeSwap's reported figures.
PancakeSwap also emerged as a fee-generating leader, accumulating over $430 million in fees through its automated market-making services and yield farming mechanisms, according to The Block's data dashboard.
