1inch rolls out cross-chain token swaps without the wrapping

Quick Take

  • The upgrade runs on 1inch’s NativeOrderFactory, which automates wrapping in the background.
  • Users can now swap tokens like ETH or POL in a single step, avoiding multiple approvals.

DeFi aggregator 1inch has introduced a new feature that lets users swap native network tokens directly across chains, removing the need for manual wrapping or multiple approvals.

The upgrade allows tokens such as ether on Ethereum or POL on Polygon to be swapped in a single step using 1inch’s intent-based and cross-chain functionality.

Previously, users had to wrap tokens before trading, and in some cases unwrap them again if an order was canceled, adding time and complexity.

By automating wrapping and unwrapping in the background, 1inch said the new system makes swaps faster, safer, and simpler.

“By enabling one-step native token swaps, we’re removing unnecessary complexity – one of the biggest pain points in DeFi,” said 1inch co-founder Sergej Kunz. “This upgrade makes intent-based and cross-chain swaps more intuitive for everyone.”

The feature is powered by the platform’s NativeOrderFactory extension, which establishes a proxy to handle all wrap and unwrap actions behind the scenes while staying compatible with 1inch’s existing limit order infrastructure.

The rollout also includes safeguards for failed trades. If a swap does not execute, professional resolvers step in to return funds to users securely, according to 1inch.
