Swiss-based Taurus SA will begin providing custody support for the Canton Token Standard, in addition to becoming a super validator for the corresponding network, the company said Tuesday.

"As a Super Validator, Taurus helps secure and maintain the Canton Network by participating in consensus and validating critical operations across applications," Taurus said in a statement. "SVs are selected for their reliability, enterprise credentials, and long-term commitment to supporting growth within the Canton ecosystem."

The Canton Network is a public, permissionless blockchain designed for regulated financial institutions. According to Taurus, more than $6 trillion in "tokenized assets have been issued or processed on Canton across bonds, repos, money market funds, loan commitments, and insurance."

"Our infrastructure already supports many of the world’s leading banks," Taurus Chief Marketing Officer Victor Busson said. "By enabling these institutions to leverage Canton’s advanced privacy and collateral management features, we are creating new institutional use cases and delivering greater value across the regulated digital asset ecosystem.”

Founded in 2018, Taurus has partnerships and provides support to Deutsche Bank, CACEIS, Santander, and State Street. Credit Suisse led a $65 million Series B in Taurus back in 2023. The firm also operates a marketplace for private assets and tokenized securities and is a securities firm regulated and supervised by FINMA.

Taurus opened its first office in the U.S. last month.
