ECOMI is a Singapore-based company that operates VeVe, a mobile-first licensed digital collectibles platform. OMI is the native utility token originally built on the GoChain network, later bridged to Ethereum and now operating on Immutable X (IMX) for gas-free NFT transactions. OMI functions primarily as the settlement layer between fiat on-ramps and VeVe’s in-app economy.

Gems are VeVe’s in-app currency. Users purchase Gems with fiat or crypto, then spend Gems to buy collectibles, participate in drops, or trade on the in-app marketplace. OMI’s connection: a portion of Gem purchases is routed through OMI buy-and-burn operations. Gems are not OMI; they are a closed-loop in-app currency that abstracts the token layer away from end users. This design insulates users from crypto volatility while maintaining OMI as the underlying burn asset.

VeVe holds licenses from Marvel, DC, Disney, Star Wars, Pixar, Nike, Harley-Davidson, Fast and Furious, and others. Collectibles are issued as limited-edition 3D NFTs with defined rarity tiers. Secondary market trading occurs inside the VeVe app with Gems, not OMI directly, creating friction between on-chain token demand and in-app activity.

OMI hit its ATH in March 2021 at roughly $0.00155, implying a fully diluted valuation that was speculative relative to platform revenue. The collapse was driven by: (1) broader NFT and altcoin bear market 2022-2023, (2) GoChain to IMX migration created uncertainty and sell pressure, (3) VeVe’s marketplace struggled with oversupply of collectibles and declining floor prices, (4) monetization path for OMI holders remained unclear as Gems abstracted direct utility, (5) circulating supply of OMI is in the hundreds of billions, creating persistent structural dilution pressure.

A percentage of all Gem purchases is used to buy and burn OMI from the open market. Additionally, collectible drops, premium features, and sticker packs trigger burn events. The burn is deflationary in design but the effectiveness is constrained by the enormous total supply (originally 750 billion OMI). To materially move the supply/demand curve, burn rates would need to sustain significantly against a user base that has contracted since 2021 highs.
