Blockstream’s flagship product and its primary long-term revenue generator has so far been slow to pick up major traction. The federated sidechain tailored specifically for exchanges and traders has had 61,700 total transactions in its seven-month history and is currently capitalized with $313,000 from the net value of less than 400 peg transactions.

Blockstream is among the most prominent companies developing Bitcoin technology; spanning both open-source Bitcoin development (contribution to Bitcoin Core and Lightning Network) and for-profit solutions (such as commercial sidechains). The company started in 2014 and is led by cryptographer Adam Back.
