Lightning Network is becoming more distributed but a single entity still holds 61% of the network's capacity

Lightning Network, Bitcoin’s second layer payment protocol, has seen significant growth in its short history. In less than 20 months since being live on mainnet, there are now 32,200 total channels, 4,800 nodes with active channels and the total capacity is $8.6 million.

The first Lightning implementation developed by Lightning Labs has launched in beta a year and a half ago in March 2018. The other two (main) implementations developed by ACINQ and Blockstream followed in late March and late June respectively. Since then, the Lightning Network is being stress-tested in the open.
