The Move programming language, created by Meta’s Diem (formerly Libra) team, is getting a wave of interest as ex-Meta developers are striking it out on their own to launch blockchain startups built around the language. One of these startups launched is Aptos Labs, which is developing a new Layer-1 blockchain from the ground up utilizing Move. Named Aptos, the blockchain and its coding language aim to combat security vulnerabilities commonly found in smart contracts through the use of linear logic. A breakdown of Move and MoveVM can be further explored here.

Founded by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching, Aptos has received a lot of attention from venture capital firms, raising $200 million in March 2022 and $150 million in July 2022, valuing the company at over $4 billion.
