Mapping Out EigenLayer’s Ecosystem

EigenLayer, a protocol built on Ethereum, introduces a new crypto primitive called restaking. Through restaking, ETH stakers can restake their assets to provide crypto-economic security for blockchain projects beyond Ethereum while earning additional rewards from the restaking yield. This process also benefits developers by allowing them to partially leverage Ethereum’s economic security in a cost-effective manner.

Founded by Sreeram Kannan in 2021, EigenLayer launched its mainnet in April 2024. As of August 8th, EigenLayer has attracted a total of $12.23 billion in TVL, making it the third largest project on Ethereum after Lido ($24.35 billion) and Aave ($15.05 billion).
