Mapping out Solana's Ecosystem

Solana is a layer-1 blockchain platform designed for decentralized applications and features high throughput and low transaction costs. The project was founded in 2018 by Alan Yu, Anatoly Yakovenko, Greg Fitzgerald, Raj Gokal, and Stephen Akridge. 

While the developers formally introduced the project in 2018, its origins date to 2017 when founder Yakovenko proposed a whitepaper draft with a new timekeeping technique for distributed systems called Proof of History, which underpins the Solana network today.
