zkSync is a Layer-2 scaling protocol in the Ethereum ecosystem. It was developed by Matter Labs, founded in December 2018 by Alex Gluchowski and Alexandr Vlasov. The overarching goal of this protocol is to offer cheaper and faster transactions and be the home of many popular Ethereum decentralized applications.

The network is currently in its testnet stage, with the first step towards mainnet happening on October 28th. The present timeline sees zkSync going entirely live by the end of the year. The complete technical analysis on zkSync can be found here.
