Rapid Insights: Breaking down Aptos’ Token Economics

One of the most anticipated events for the crypto space in 2022 has been the expected launch of two new layer 1 (L1) blockchains based on the Move programming language: Aptos and Sui. Both teams have previously expressed their intention to launch their mainnet by the end of 2022. For Aptos, this intent became a reality with the execution of the first mainnet transactions on October 12th, 2022. However, the successful deployment of mainnet was only announced several days later, on October 17th, after confirmation of accurate network state. 

The sudden transition to mainnet appears to have caught many users in the space off guard, particularly given the general lack of specific technical details regarding the deployment in the official announcement of mainnet arrival. A recent post on October 13th detailing the transaction fee mechanics of the new network also makes no mention of the mainnet launch about 24 hours earlier.
