Multiple Layer 1s (L1s) started gaining traction during the bull run from 2020 to 2021. This trend resulted from high gas fees on Ethereum and a largely unoptimized environment for most decentralized applications (dapps). For instance, multiple decentralized exchanges sprung up on various L1s that offered a similar experience to trading on Uniswap on Ethereum, minus the high gas fees and long finality times. Thus, it is inevitable that developers will always look for the most optimal environment.

Coupled with the rise of rollups and increasingly modularized blockchains, it comes as no surprise that rollups as a service (RaaS) solutions are starting to spring up. In a previous research piece, we discussed the development of Slush, an L3 framework that leverages StarkNet to provide RaaS solutions. In this research piece, we will cover some alternative RaaS solutions and their current state of development.
