Searching for Alpha: Telepathy

Telepathy, developed by Succinct Labs, is an interoperability protocol that enables the cross-chain transmission of messages by utilizing a zk-SNARK circuit and light clients in the form of smart contracts.

Telepathy is one of the first “zk-bridges” currently live on Ethereum mainnet, albeit as a “demo” version. This demo version limits users to sending alphanumeric strings, without facilitating asset transfers as of yet.

Telepathy derives its security by leveraging light clients, aiming to reduce the cross-chain interoperability sector’s over-reliance on centralized parties or permissioned multi-sigs, most recently highlighted by an incident involving Multichain.
