Mapping out Avalanche's ecosystem

Avalanche (AVAX) is an open and programmable platform for creating custom blockchain networks and decentralized finance applications. Ava Labs, founded by Emin Gun Sirer, launched Avalanche using an original consensus protocol in 2020. 

Avalanche has grown its ecosystem significantly since launching and declaring itself as an Ethereum-compatible blockchain. The most significant challenges previously facing Avalanche and other Layer-1 blockchains were the lack of infrastructure, tooling, and compatibility with other blockchains and acted as a barrier between the platform and its mass adoption by developers. To remediate this issue, Avalanche implemented cross-chain interoperability efficacy through its bridge solution.
