Classifying Cross-chain Bridges Part 3: Optimistic Verification

In the previous part of the series, we examined three common types of consensus mechanisms of cross-chain bridges: native, external, and local verification. These mechanisms have their unique trade-offs, also known as the “Interoperability Trilemma.” 

In this third part of the series, we explore optimistic verification, a hybrid implementation of the previous three that is slowly gaining popularity. It also carries its unique set of pros and cons that complicates the Interoperability Trilemma.
