Stargate: A Cross-Chain Stableswap Protocol

Stargate is a cross-chain stablecoin swap protocol that utilizes the infrastructure of LayerZero to facilitate cross-chain message delivery. LayerZero is an interoperability protocol that provides lightweight and guaranteed message delivery with varying levels of trustlessness. The protocol is implemented as a set of non-upgradable smart contracts.

Essentially, LayerZero creates a system where messages can be sent and verified across chains by using independent relayers and oracles, who are responsible for providing and verifying data and posting messages, respectively. The technical details of LayerZero will be covered in a future research piece, but it should not be confused with the term layer zero as a branch of scaling solutions.
