Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is one of the most renowned venture capital firms out of Silicon Valley. Founded in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, the firm made early bets on several high-profile software startups like Skype, Facebook, Airbnb, Twitter, and Lyft.

The firm was an early investor in digital assets, investing in the sector as far back as 2013. By June 2018, the firm launched a16z Crypto, a $300 million venture fund dedicated to investing in crypto companies and protocols. Since then, the venture capital firm only accelerated raising funds for its crypto investing arm, which now includes a Crypto Fund II ($515m), Crypto Fund III ($2.2b), Crypto Fund IV ($4.5b), and a Web3 Gaming Fund ($600m). The company has also started a Crypto Startup School, an accelerator initiative for crypto founders in Los Angeles, California.
