Mapping out Coatue Management's crypto portfolio

Coatue Management is a New York-based investment firm that operates in San Francisco, Hong Kong, and Shanghai. Founded by Philippe Laffont in 1999, Coatue manages over $70 billion worth of assets, focusing primarily on technology, media, and telecommunications industries in private, growth, and public markets.

As far back as 2018, Coatue has been intrigued by the potential of digital assets where it participated in the significant mining manufacturer Bitmain’s Series B round (raising $292.7M), which was the fund’s first exposure to the crypto industry. Coatue has also participated in other crypto firm fundraising rounds, adding its name to the shareholder's list of some of the most prominent players in the crypto industry, such as Opensea, Chainalysis, and Alchemy.
