Based in Menlo Park, California, Kleiner Perkins is a venture capital firm specializing in investing in incubation, early-stage, and growth companies. Founded by Eugene Kleiner, Thomas Perkins, Frank J. Caufield, and Brook Byers in 1972, Kleiner has made notable technological investments, including AOL, Google, and Amazon. More recently, its well-known, non-crypto-related investments, have included firms like Brex, Cameo, and Robinhood.

As far back as 2015, the investment firm showed its interest in Bitcoin and the potential of digital assets with its first bet on the sector with its investment in Veem (Formerly Align Commerce). Since its first investment in the crypto sector, Kleiner has made twelve additional investments in the industry, with five of those occurring this year.
