Private funding into crypto and blockchain companies is off to a slow Q1 start

The following funding data into "Blockchain/Cryptocurrency" industry verticals comes from Pitchbook. While 2018 saw a flurry of growth in both the frequency of total deals (~170 percent) and total capital raised (~400 percent), so far through 1Q19 funding into the space has softened, relative to 2018. YTD in 2019, the total USD value of capital raised is ~$160 million (led by Chainalysis' ~$30 million and Symbiont's $20 million Series B rounds), down ~60 percent Y/Y. DCG and Pantera continue to be the most active investors in the space.
