The growth in usage of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the enormous price appreciation of certain collectibles have attracted an influx of private investors, analogous to what occurred over DeFi Summer. Led predominately by OpenSea, marketplaces that enable the buying and selling of NFTs are on pace to do over $1 billion in trading volume in August alone.

Axie Infinity, a blockchain-based game where users can collect, battle, breed, and trade creatures, has brought attention to Play-to-Earn (P2E)-style games. The game generates revenue from selling its "Axie" creatures, land sales, breeding fees, and marketplace fees. In July, revenue generated by the game exploded to nearly $197 million, a 1,510% increase MoM, and in August, the game has already surpassed that with roughly $231 million in revenue.
